As being a youngster born after the age of “Made in Taiwan,” my impression about “Made in Taiwan” stays at the legend of being involved in manufacture industry can get rich overnight. I could no longer reach those low quality, rough, cheap Made in Taiwan products that were sold worldwide as the time I grew up. Nor couldn’t I get the embarrassed but funny and weird feeling of the teasing in 1987’s Hollywood movie “Fatal Attraction,” when the main character broke his umbrella and being asked: “Made in Taiwan?”
I grew up in a time when “Made in China” replaced “Made in Taiwan” and became the factory of the world. On the other hand, “Made in Taiwan” products started to represent high quality boutique. There always are made in India traditional manufactories. Not until the policy “Make in India” does the logo “Made in India” start to go around the global brand manufactories.
In this work, I bought a cloth that is made in India from international brand GAP shop in Delhi, and use its price tag as a standard. I collect the same value items with “Made in India” logo on it, from India, cheap and huge amount of faucets to complete the installation.

身為一個Made in Taiwan時代結束後才出生的年輕人,對於Made in Taiwan的印象只停留在透過製造業致富的傳奇裡,在我所成長的時代,已經接觸不到Made in Taiwan粗糙、廉價、流通全球的商品了,自然也無法感受到1987年好萊塢電影《致命的吸引力》當中,男主角因為雨傘故障而被人調侃:「Made in Taiwan?」時,略帶困窘卻又無比親切的好笑。
在我所成長的Made in China 時代,廉價的中國勞力已經取代了台灣成為世界的工廠,Made in Taiwan所代表的反而是一種在地製造的精品。而在印度過去的製造傳統當中,Made in India從來有之,直到Make in India的政策出現,有著Made in India Logo的工業物件才成為直指全球生產線的象徵物。
在這次的計畫當中,我尋找了一件GAP在印度生產與販售的上衣,並且以這件上衣的售價作為價格的標準,蒐集了與之相等價值、上面寫著Made in India,產自印度、廉價而數量龐大的水龍頭,完成這個裝置。
