Mutton hotpot is one among the few Taiwanese mutton dishes, which is usually served in winter time. A traditional mutton hotpot would have Chinese-herb-broth and mutton as ingredients. With different herbal formulas, the price could expand several times, especially for those sold in quite known mutton hotpot restaurants.
In 2012, I was inspired by the symbolic exchange system theory, and launched to make some simple attempts to overthrow contemporary symbolic exchange system. Within my first project, I’ve collected a quantity of leftovers from those mutton hotpot restaurants, and then cleaned them up, grounded them to small pieces, and finally mixed them up with FRP to reconstruct a whole sheep. During the entire project, I have reconstructed 100 sheep in total and sold them back to the market at 1/100 the market price of live sheep; incidentally, the price setting was based on the average of Taiwan mutton market price at the same year.
